Trick or Treat Smell My Feet Halloween Craft Tutorial

Lately I have been going to our local thrift store where everything is half off  on Mondays.  I can't stop buying junk!  Every time I go in there, I find something.  My kitchen counters are filling up with all kinds of goodies.

A week or so ago, I was in this thrift store and came across this really cool wood plaque with an ugly picture on it, and 2 clear knobs.  I thought to myself,
"I know I can sand that picture off and spray that sucker black....but then what?"

I remembered I had this cute huge circle die cut that said, "Trick or Treat Smell my Feet" on it.  They were really cheap and I bought about 5 of them.  So I took the wood plaque home, sanded the bejeebers out of it (to get the ugly picture off).  Next, I took the plaque to my backyard, and sprayed lots of black spray paint on it.  When you buy spray paint, I highly recommend Rust-oleum American Accents.  Canyon Black is my favorite color!  I have used 2 bottles in the last week or so.  It drys really fast and has a nice satin finish. You can get it at Home Depot for $3.44 a can!

The next step is of course let the paint dry completely.  Then I found a cute piece of Halloween Scrapbook paper.  I cut it down the size of my plaque, then glued it on with Modge Podge.  You can buy this at any craft store for around 6.99 a bottle and you get a lot.  My last bottle lasted about 2 years!  Coat the top of the paper and I also coated the whole plaque with the Modge Podge as well.  Let it dry completely.  You will notice the paper will start to bubble.  Just press down on with your hands or a dry rag, until the bubbles are gone.

I also glued the Halloween Die cut down with the Modge Podge and put a final thin coat all over the plaque.  After it dried which only took about 1/2 hour, I then hot glued a black feather boa around the edges of the wood plaque. The feather boa was purchased at Joann's for about  $3.50 for 6 ft. (I used a coupon!).  To finish it off, I made a cute little ribbon flower that took me literally about 5 minutes to make.  Super easy!

Here is how it turned out:

Do you like?  I am so pleased with how it turned out!
I can either hang this plaque up on the wall, or display it on a decorative easel.  I am going to use the easel.  I have about 4 or 5 laying around.   I hope you like it!  Let me know what you think....

Did you know it's Talk like a Pirate Day??? I heard that on the radio the other day.  In our family, we looove to talk like Pirates.  Our kids think it's hilarious.  So in honor of Talk like a Pirate day......"Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a Pirates life for me (while holding a beer stein)!!"
That sounded kinda dorky, but oh well.  That was all I could think of.....

Here is one of the cutest Pirates I have seen.  Don't ya think he's kinda cute?

Gotta love those tassles hanging off his chin!

Wish me luck...I start school tomorrow!  I am taking Piano, History, and a Running class.  I want to start off easy, ya know.  It's been 15 yrs!

Spooky Subway Art with Modge podge

****{If you would like to enter my Scrapbook stash giveaway, please scroll down or click here}  Hurry!!  It ends tomorrow Sept. 18th at midnight****

Boy is Subway Art the rage in the blogosphere lately!  I have seen so many fun and creative ways of doing it.  Well, here is my take on it.

I only spent about $1 on the frame (mine is 11 x 17), then spray painted it black.  The paper I used for the background is Basic Grey.  Instead of using vinyl, I cut the letters out with my Cricut machine.  I modge podged all the letters on the paper, then brushed a light layer of modge podge over the finished project.  When it was dry, I put it in the frame with out the glass.  Super Easy!

I really like how it turned out.  What do you think?

I love the little spider in the middle!

Have a great weekend!

A new Fall Grapevine Wreath for my Porch

{If you would like to enter my Scrapbook stash giveaway, please scroll down or click here}  Hurry!!  It ends this Saturday September 18th:)

I am going CRAZY with the Fall crafts this week!  Yesterday I made such a lovely little Grapevine Fall Wreath.  The picture doesn't do it justice.  I had the cheap camera I have been using, so you will have to forgive me.  It still looks pretty dang cute, though....don't ya think?

I love how it turned out!

I bought an 18" grapevine wreath at Micheal's for $2.50, then I bought 3 pkgs of Fall leaves for $1 each.  You could use any old wreath you have laying around.  It doesn't have to be grapevine.  I just hot glued each little leaf on and Waaaala!  A lovely Fall wreath for my front porch.  You should try it!  Here is another picture of it:

I like this picture better, don't you?
Do something crafty this week!  It is a great stress reliever.....Have fun!!

{Topiary, Candy Corn and cool holiday decor!}

Don't forget to enter the Scrapbook goodies Giveaway!!!
Scroll down to see....

This week I have been doing a lot of searching on the web to find some fun Autumn decorations I could make for our home.  Boy there sure are a lot of creative people out there wouldn't you say?  I would.  Well, I copied several people's creativeness this week and here is what I came up with:

Don't you love this cute dome pedestool thingy?
I found the stool (I can't spell the other word!)at Salvation Army, sprayed it with black paint and Waaaalla!  Such a cute Autumn decoration.  Oh...and that cute little pumpkin I got at the Dollar Tree!

I found this idea here
I just love how this Candy Corn turned out!  I had some scrap wood laying around, so I cut them out with my Scroll Saw, painted, sanded the heck out of them, and rubbed stain all over them.  I loooove stain.  It covers up all my mistakes!

The idea for this topiary came from here
I love how it turned out!
So as you can see I have been a very busy girl this week!  It's amazing what I can get done when the kiddos aren't around:)

Have a great weekend!

Back to School Week and How about a GIVEAWAY!!

Holy Cow!   I have to admit I have been excited for school to start for about a month, not only for my kids to go back (yes, I need some ALONE time:)  but I am going back to school as well!  I can't wait:)

I haven't been to school since....ummm.....1995!  I know it's been a while.  That's about when my oldest was about a year, and I decided to put it off for a few years.  Hello...15 years later!  I am really nervous, but excited at the same time.  One thing that scares me is that I am going to be the oldest in my class!

Do you ever have those re-occuring  nightmares that you forget to go to class?  I always have a dream that I forget my locker combination!

I would love to hear your comments about your school dreams (or nightmare!) experiences.   Are any of you going back to school?  I want to know if there is anyone out there like me!

Another change with me is I am closing my Etsy shops, so I can spend more time with school work and my family.....soooo in order for me to not have so much STUFF in my craft room (and maintain a good marriage), I am going to give it away, to YOU,  My lovely readers!!

Beginning Tuesday September 7th, after I get my kids off to school, I am going to post a giveaway on my blog every month.  They are going to be mostly scrapbook stuff, handmade cards, Tags, and even jewelry!  It's gonna be awesome....trust me!!
Here is some examples of what you can win...yummy, huh?

Check back Tuesday to see what goodies I have to giveaway.  You WON'T be disappointed!!
