Easter is on it's Way Bunny Craft!

Are you all ready for Easter?  Do you have your house all decorated?  I just got my decorations out a few days ago and decked the whole house out in pastels!

I have been crafting like a mad woman because Spring Break is just about over.  Spring term starts for me on Monday.  Man, I wish I just had 1 more week!

Here is what I have been working on.  Isn't she a cutie?

I also LOVE, LOVE the bird cage I got at Michael's last weekend!  Got it 50% off.  I had the bird's nest from last year, and my 10 yr. old added the little birdies:)

This craft is a Thoughts in Vinyl craft kit.  This particular kit is on SALE right now for $10!  What a deal!!

I put my own little twist on it by using Washi tape for the nose instead of the vinyl nose.  I also added a pretty Pink Tulle bow!  This was a super fast and Easy project!!

I am so proud of myself.  I opened up a new package of M & M's to use in this picture and I did not even eat one!  Aren't you proud of me??

I'll be back tomorrow with another adorable Spring/Easter Craft!

I am off to enjoy my last day of freedom for a few months!

Have a fabulous Day!

Keep Calm and Hop On - Vinyl Art

I have told you before about Thoughts in Vinyl, right?  Well, recently I have been a little obsessed with their craft kits and I bought a whole lot of them!!

Here is the most recent one I have put together:

Isn't she a cutie?

This one was super easy to put together!  I bought the vinyl only.
 I simply put it on a frame I had laying around.  I also added some fun scrapbook paper for the background to spice it up a little!

 Right now this is on SALE for only $3!!  Stop by Thoughts in Vinyl and check out their other kits as well.

Can you believe how quickly Easter will be here?  Have you decorated yet for the holiday?

Have a lovely evening:)

****I was not compensated for writing this post.  I just LOVE Thoughts in Vinyl and want to tell the whole world about it!!

Family Wood Blocks

Hello!

 The sun is out and the kids are outside playing and here I am on the computer!  I just had to post this craft that I finished yesterday.

  Please excuse the crappy pictures.  I let my older kids take my camera out of town (I know, what was I thinking!), so I had to use a really cheapo camera that my daughter should have taken with her, but instead she has my good camera, arrgh!!

I bought the vinyl like 3 years ago from a friend and it's just been sitting around.  Finally I got motivated to paint it!

For this set, I used coordinating Scrapbook paper and mod podged it on the blocks, except the long one.  I just painted that one of my favorite colors:  Americana- "Spa Blue."  The "Family" blocks I painted with Martha Stewart's "Wedding Cake."

I love the Spring colors, don't you?

I may give this one away, but it will be hard to part with it!

Hope your day is going great and that you have lots of Sun where you are!!

Keeping it Real {Sunday}

Hey everyone!  What a fabulous weekend we are having!  The last 2 days here have been sunny and fairly warm and I LOVE it!!  Yesterday I went and saw this movie with some good friends:

I thought the movie was FABULOUS!  I really liked the stars that protrayed Katniss and Peeta.  They did a really good job.  If you haven't read the books yet, I would encourage you to before you see the movie.  You'll enjoy the movie more:)

Wouldn't it be fun to have a hunger games PARTY?

find the recipes here.

These look so yummy and love the party idea!

idea found here.

How about some Hunger Games Bookmarks?

I think it's ok that she ripped up a HG book, don't you?
Hey, if it makes something THIS cute, I am all for it!

found here.

 How about a Hunger games T-shirt?
I think I would wear this:)

found via pinterest.

I think it would be cool to put this quote on some wood and hang it in my house!

Don't you LOVE all these fun Hunger Games ideas?

If you have seen the movie did you like it?

I want to know what you think!

Have a great Sunday!!

Spring Birdhouses {Tutorial}

Is it Spring weather where you are?  Here in the Northwest we woke up to 2-3 inches of SNOW!  What's.......up.......with......that?  I have lived here my whole life and I can never remember it snowing this late.  It was very pretty when I woke up and the kids school opened 2 hrs. late, so it does have it's good points!

Today I am going to share with you one of my favorite projects!  Birdhouses!  I love these sweet little things.  I bought the birdhouses at Joanne's for $1 each.

Here is what you will need:

Wood Candlesticks {I used 4}
Wood birdhouses {just about any craft store for $1}
Paint (see below)
sand paper
Stain- I used Minwax wood stain {Early American}
E6000 glue or some really strong glue

 The candle sticks I bought at Joanne's as well for about $2 a bag of four.

 As you can see I glued 2 candlesticks together with E6000 glue.  It's great stuff!

Next, I glued the houses to the top of the candlesticks.  I also glued an oval piece of wood on the bottom.

After I glued everything together I stained the whole birdhouse {Sorry, no pictures of the staining.  It was night.}

The paints I used are:

Martha Stewart- Wedding Cake, Yellow Jacket, and Sea Lavender {just ignore the Bahama Blue in the center, although that is a cool color!}

After I stained all the wood and let it dry overnight, I painted the whole birdhouse {except the front with the little holes in it} with the Wedding Cake paint.

After the paint is dry I painted the front of the birdhouses with the Yellow Jacket and Sea Lavender paint.

 When all the paint is dry, get your sandpaper and sand around all the edges!  It is so cool how the stain shows through!  I love that distressed, vintagy look!  I got the stain idea here.

Now display them in your house and you will get LOTS of compliments!

I just love what you can do with plain old wood, right?  There are so many possibilities!!

Sorry there are so many pictures, I kinda got carried away trying to take different pictures!  I HAD to show you:)

I have decided to cancel Friday Frolic  for the next 2 weeks.  My kids start Spring Break tomorrow and we aren't going to be around much for the next week.

I need to spend time with them and enjoy my week off of school.  I hope you understand!  I am sure I will be back sometime next week with a craft or two.

Hope you are enjoying your Spring, wherever you are!

DIY Mini Pallet Art: {My version}

I have to admit it.  I am not very good at coming up with my own original crafts!  I usually put my own twists on things though.

Here is my twist on an AWESOME Tutorial by Ucreate.  She created some beautiful Pallet D'ecor.

Mine is an Easter version:

Isn't she cute?

I used regular popsicle sticks.  My canvas is 4 x 6 size {got mine at a thrift store for about .50 cents!  Very small, but let me tell ya, you DON'T want to have to cover a large canvas with those buggers.  It is kind of a pain to cut the sticks, but it went fairly fast.

After I was done painting mine, I sanded over the top with some sandpaper to make it look a little distressed.

For the "Happy Easter" and the cute little chick, I used Martha Stewart stencils.  The stuff next to the "Happy Easter" is Washi tape, then I put a cute little yellow bow on top.

Have you tried Pallet Art yet?
If you have I would love to see it!  Leave your link in the comment section!

Have a great day:)

Keeping it Real {Sunday}

I don't have a lot to say today!  This week has been a little crazy with school and kids.  I have a Chemistry final this Wednesday, then I am done for 2 weeks, YAY!

I gotta say, I am a little sick of hearing about Atoms, Protons, and all that Chemistry jargon!

It will be nice to have 2 weeks off to CRAFT!  YAY!  I am so excited:)

I hope you all are having a fabulous Sunday.

Here is one of my favorite quotes:

 Hope that lifts your spirits in some way today!

Happy DAY!!

St. Patrick's Day Canvas Art

I am so happy to have Kalyn from I Thought I Loved You Then with us today!  Take it away Kalyn!

Happy St Patrick's Day everyone!

Here is a quick little tutorial to dress up any room!

Supplies:

Canvas(square)
Paint
Scrapbook paper
Ribbon
Hot Glue
Mod Podge

Start out with a canvas, I used one that I messed up a project on before.

It was supposed to be Eliza's feet as a reindeer

Take your canvas and paint it, spray paint works great for these. I used green for obvious reasons

Now take your scrapbook paper and cut it into equal squares. I used two different papers for this, I can't believe how difficult it is to find St Pattys paper! Make sure you cut them smaller then your canvas so there is room at the top and in between the pieces.

Lay them out along with your top piece. The top piece should be bigger then the smaller pieces so it overlaps nicely, but still leaves the edges to be seen.

Once you are happy with it, glue down your paper. I really wish I had used my spray adhesive(I forgot I had it), mod podge can make paper pretty wrinkly.

Allow it to try, you can mod podge over it if you would like to really seal it, but again it gets wrinkled so I just let it be.

Once it is dry, make your bow and glue it on.

This project takes about 10 minutes to make(once the paint is dry) and is great to display in a dish holder!
