DIY 4-Sided Wood Holiday Stackers

I sure love making crafts for my own home, but I always have a hard time finding a place to store them all!

This craft saves you A TON of room (and money), because it's one decoration that can be used for 4 seasons!

I love this craft because each side of the blocks are for a different season.  Awesome:)

I love how you simply have to just flip them over and you've got a different season!

Here's the Fall side.  I used different scrapbook paper for each side.

My favorite side!  Love me some Halloween:)  The different fonts are so whimsical and cute!

Supplies:

Vinyl lettering
Wood
scrapbook paper
Mod Podge
acrylic paint (I used light ivory)
sand paper

I ordered these blocks of wood and vinyl from Finger Snapper.  They have fantastic deals on their site.  It's certainly worth visiting!

I didn't take pictures of the process, but it's so dang easy!  First I sanded the wood to make it nice and smooth.  Then, I painted the wood with one coat of light ivory paint.
Next, I measured each paper to fit the wood, then Mod Podged the paper onto the wood.  Make sure you use something to smooth the paper down (like one of those scrapers from Pampered Chef!).  You don't want any air bubbles.

After all of the paper is adhered and the Mod Podge is dried (about 1/2 hour), I sanded the edged of the paper until it was smooth to the wood.  Make sure no paper is lifting up.  If it is just glue it down with more Mod Podge.

After the sanding, I applied all the vinyl lettering.  DONE!  Now I have 3 sets of these babies to give away as gifts.  YAY!!

Hope your not sick of all these vinyl projects, because I have a lot more coming!
Take care and Thanks for stopping by:)

Would you like to guest post on Pocket Full of Pink?

Hi All!
How has your weekend been?  Hubs and I have FINALLY planned the trip to Hawaii and I am so dang JAZZED!  I can't wait:)  We are going to Oahu, The Big Island, and Kauai.  So exciting!

I am looking for a few guest bloggers for September.  Do you like to craft, cook, or sew?  Have you wanted to be a guest on someone's blog, but have been nervous about it?  Well, if you feel this way, I want to hear from you!!

I have done this several times before, but it's been a while.  I want to see what you've got! I am not really picky.  I know there are a lot of you who love to craft and may have started a new blog.

I was in your shoes about 3 years ago!  Now I'm not saying I am a pro- crafter or blogger by any means.  I still feel unsure about the stuff I make, but I LOVE what I do and I feel like I want to share it with others.

PLEASE contact me with an idea of what you would like to do.  My readers love tutorials, but I would also be open to a post about yourself, highlighting some of your favorite projects you have been working on, with a link to your blog.

I would love to hear from you and can't wait to see what you would like to share! Don't be afraid, we are all just bloggers sharing our talents with each other!

Shoot me and e-mail if your interested:

Oregon Coast Vacation!

Hello friends!  Can you believe it's already August 21st?  This summer is just flying by for us.  My kids start school a few days after Labor Day and I am taking the Fall term off, Yay!!

Remember a while back I told you I was going to Hawaii with the Hubs this Fall?  Well, it is actually going to happen folks!  It's kindof a miracle because my husband is SUPER busy and only has 2 weeks vacation:(  We should be going in October!!  I can't wait!!

Well, right now guess where I am?  I am on the Oregon Coast!  I took 2 of my kids and we are staying in a cute little hotel right on the beach.  My parents are here with us too and tonight my oldest daughter (the one leaving for college in 2 weeks (insert tears) and my husband will join us.  Partay!

It is so beautiful here!  I can't believe the luck we have had with the gorgeous weather!

The 2 younger kiddos enjoying time on the beach making Sand Castles!

We got up early this morning to find some tide pools.  We found some awesome creatures like this little guy:

I call him my cute little Starfish (original, huh?)

Here are my favorite people in the world.  My parents. I sure love these two.  They have been married almost 60 years!  AMAZING:)

Hope your having a great week.  We sure are!!  More pictures later....

French Vanilla Cookies with Heath Bits!

These cookies are ohhhhh so yummy!  I found this recipe the other day and didn't have any margerine thawed out, so I used shortening sticks (butter flavored).  Then I used French vanilla pudding (tastes SO good!), and added Heath bits instead of Chocolate Chips.  YUMMO!!

They turned out so soft and chewy, I am in Heaven!
We are heading to the Beach on Monday, so I made a bunch to munch on:)

Here's the recipe:

French Vanilla Cookies with Heath bar

1 cup Crisco Shortening + 2 tbsp water
3/4 cup Brown Sugar
1/4 cup Sugar
1 (3.4 oz) instant French Vanilla pudding
2 eggs
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
2-1/4 cups flour
1 8oz. bag of Heath bits

Preheat oven to 350F.  Stir together flour baking soda and set aside.
In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugars together.
Add in pudding package and beat until well incorporated.
Add heath bits.
Roll into 1" balls and place on greased baking sheet.
Bake at 350 F for 8-10 minutes.

Devour them!!

I am so impressed with how well these turned out with the shortening opposed to the butter.  They didn't go all flat and hard, like mine usually do.

I may switch back to shortening instead of margerine when I bake!

Hope your having a fantastic weekend:)

Book Review: Let it Go by Chris Williams

Most of you know I'm LDS (Mormon).  Well, I don't usually talk religion that much,  and this isn't gonna be a preachy post, but I HAVE to tell you about this book. It will amazingly help you understand the principle of forgiveness. It's not even about "Mormons."  It is simply about being like Jesus Christ and a Christian.

This book has HONESTLY changed my life!  It is so amazing and uplifting you would not believe.

Chris Williams is an amazing author and I love his sense of humor along with the profound love he has for his Savior and family.

Let it go will lift your heart and give you an understanding of what true Forgiveness means.  It is tremendous to me that someone could lose their spouse and 2 kids (and an unborn baby!) to a drunk driving accident and then turn around and forgive!  I love the saying "Let it Go."

It's amazing what Jesus Christ can do to our hearts if we are willing to hand it over to him.  This book will truly lift your spirit!

If you don't want to read the book, please watch the video.  click on the "Let it Go" link above.  Get some tissue ready because the tears are gonna come!

Hope you enjoy this!!

I was not in any way compensated for this book review.  I just read the book and absolutely loved it.  I want to share it with everyone!!

Yellow and Grey Live Simply frame with Washi Tape!

The other day I was having crafting withdrawals!  I got a bunch of supplies out and got started crafting!

Here's what I came up with.  I had this frame from a few years ago when my favorite craft store was closing.

Here are the supplies you will need:

- frame with glass
-washi tape
-vinyl lettering
-fabric (you can use scraps for this)
-hot glue

I ordered my vinyl from Fingersnapper.  I got the washi tape a few years ago from Pick Your Plum.  The fabric I had on hand.  I made the rosettes a few months ago from another project and never used them, so this project took me about 1/2 hour total!  Yay!!

This project was so easy, I didn't take step by step pictures, but here is what I did.

1.  Adhere Washi tape around the frame. Easy!  I just kindof eye balled it:)

2.  apply the vinyl.

3.  glue on the rosettes. (here is a tutorial if your not familiar how to make these.)

DONE!

See what I mean?  Super EASY!  Love those kind of projects!!

I just love the grey, yellow and black together.  Don't you?

Would love to hear from you!  Leave a comment and let me know what you think.
