How to make Oh Happy Day Flower Card Tutorial

I just can't get enough of flowers....so here is my next tutorial, Oh Happy Day Flower Card! It looks hard, but trust me it is really really easy!
First, for the colored cardstock background, I used orange Coredinations cardstock. I got it at Joann Fabrics and it is new. It's awesome, because the core is light, so when you rip it, you get that look as you can see in the picture. It looks really cool, but you can use any cardstock.

Next, I cut out flowers freehand from patterned paper. For this card I used KI Memories paper, because it all coordinates! When I cut the flowers I cut in a wavy pattern with my scissors. It was totally a random cut, and however you cut them will look fine! I cut them in 3 different sizes.

Then I took each flower in my hand and crumpled them...yes, get your aggressions out and really get those flowers wrinkled! The more wrinkled, the better they look. Then flatten them out on a hard surface. When you glue the flowers on your card, go around the flower to lift up the edges of the paper. It makes the flower looks 3-dimensional.

For the stems and leaves, I used tiny rick rack (not the regular size). For the stems, I just tied a piece of rick rack in a knot and glued them on the stems.

The grass is random cut pieces of green paper, in all different heights. Having a paper cutter helps, but you could also do it by hand.

To finish off the flowers, I glued a button in each of the centers with tacky tape. This tape is extra strong and I glue all buttons and heavy embellishments with this stuff. It's great!

For the center of the large flower, I used a round stamp with the "Oh Happy day" and stamped it on a separate piece of orange paper, then cut it out and glued it in the center of the flower.

Glue the background paper on first, then the large flower, small and medium. Then glue the rick rack on with the stems. Next, glue the grass on the bottom of the card. Lastly, glue the buttons in the center of each flower, and the "Oh happy day" stamped circle. If you don't have a stamp, just use a button!

This card could be for just about any occasion! I don't know anyone who doesn't love to get a handmade card! Your friends and family will be so impressed!

How to make a Paper Posey Card- Tutorial

I am really excited to post this tutorial about how to make these cute little paper posies! They are so easy to make and you can also use paper scraps for them.

1. Rip 4 paper circles in differents sizes and paper designs. You don't have to be perfect with this! It looks cool when they really look ripped, so don't try to get it perfect.

2. Wad up each paper in your hand to make it look really wrinkled. Flatten each of the circles out.

3. I like to ink the edges of each circle with a stamp pad. It gives them dimension and it looks pretty! You can use any color stamp pad that matches the paper.

4. Lay each circle on top of each other starting with the biggest and ending with the smallest. Now, you can either attach a brad in the center (that is what I did) or you can put a pretty button in the center!

5. There a a few different ways I have made this card: the first one, I covered the bottom half of a 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch card with patterned paper and glued a strip of ric rac at the top of the patterned paper. Then I put the posey in the center at the top of the card where it its blank. Your can either glue the posey down or stick the brad through the paper and attach it that way.

6. The other card is made with a strip of patterned paper going down the side of the card. Rip both edges of the paper so the white inside of the paper shows.

7. Then I attached the posey so it was half way on the patterned paper and halfway on the blank card. I also stamped Birthday Wishes on the bottom right hand corner of the card. You can also just leave the card blank if you wish.

8. Ink the edges with a stamp pad or a chalk ink pad.

9. These cards are so simple to do and you use tons of paper scraps!

How to make a Paper Scraps Card - Tutorial

I love to make cards and to scrapbook, so I have a LOT of paper scraps laying around. I used to wonder what the heck to do with them, but lately I have been making cards with all my scraps. It's really easy and fun!

1. First, you don't even have to buy pre-made blank scored cards. Just use some white (or any color ) cardstock (you can even use a brown grocery sack!) and cut it down to about 8 1/2 x 5 1/2.

2.Fold it into a card. I like to use a ruler (or bone folder) to make the fold nice and flat.

3. Now find some scraps of patterned or solid color paper, all different colors or patterns. I used about 5 strips of paper around 1/2 x 3 1/4 inches long. Vary the lengths so they are not all the same. They can even be different widths!

4. I inked the edges of each strip with a brown chalk ink. You can even use paint! It gives it a dimensional look.

5. Now, stagger each strip on the front of the card. It looks better if they are not perfectly straight and put them about 1/2 inch or so apart. I like to position each strip first before I glue them down. Start in the middle and work out.

6. If you want a sentiment, go ahead and write, print it out, or stamp one on a punched out shape or just a strip of plain white paper! I used an acrylic stamp for mine, but I have also just written or printed sentiments too. Whatever you are most comfortable with. I also inked the edges of my sentiment.

7. I attached my sentiment with a pop dot. It's basically a piece of foam with adhesive on both sides. It gives your card dimension and looks great!

8. When your done, think of someone you can give your card to and tell them it is handmade! They will be so impressed!
