Fall Leaf Card Tutorial Revisited

Here is a card I made a few years ago and posted when my blog was a wee babe.  I hope you like it.  It gets me excited for Fall!
Here are the supplies you need:

Patterned paper in Fall colors
2 pieces of cardstock in Fall colors
1 piece of ribbon approx. 4 inches (I used brown)
metal embellishment to thread ribbon through. You can also use a pop top from a can of pop!
Diamond Glaze

To make the leaf, you can stamp a leaf on the back side of some patterned paper (some kind of fall color) and cut it out, or if you have a large leaf paper punch, you could punch a leaf out and use that. I used a leaf pattern out of a magazine, enlarged it, then traced it on some cute patterned paper, then cut it out.

When you have your leaf cut out, then I use Judikins Diamond Glaze which is water-based dimensional adhesive. You can buy this at your local craft store for about 4.99.

Squirt out enough diamond glaze to cover the whole leaf with a thin layer. I also sprinkled gold glitter around the edges of the leaf. Put the leaf in the freezer for about 5 minutes. Take the leaf out and bend it different ways so the glaze cracks. If it doesn't crack, put it back in the freezer for a few more minutes.

You could put another layer of diamond glaze, then put it in the freezer again for a more "crackled" look.

For a 4 x 5 1/2 card, I used 1 piece 4 x 3 inches fall patterned paper, then 2 other smaller pieces of cardstock 1 was 2 1/2 x 3 (approx.) and 2 1/2 x 1 1/4. I like to use Bazzill cardstock and I choose Fall colors.

Adhere the 3 pieces of paper to the card, then, thread the ribbon through the embellishment or pop top. Glue ribbon on card.

I stamped "thanks" then cut it out and adhered it next to the ribbon. You could also print out a sentiment, then cut it out and adhere to the card.

If you have chalk ink or a brown stamp pad, rub the pad around the edges of the card. It gives it a vintage look.

That's it! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. I sure did. If you have any questions about how to make the card, please feel free to leave a comment, or e-mail me!

Cute Posey card tutorial

I did a tutorial for this card a few years back when my blog was in it's infancy.....not very many followers at that time, so I thought I should repost it and revamp the tutorial, now that I have a little more experience! This card is super EASY! I hope you enjoy it!!

Doesn't it just scream SUMMER?

Here are the supplies you need:

-super duper cute paper!  I choose "Quite Contrary" by My Minds Eye.  I love paper that coordinates without me having to think!
-3 buttons
-scissors
-glue
-3 1/2 x 5 card with envelope (you can just cut up a 8 1/2 piece of white cardstock to 2 cards this size!)
-glue dots (gives extra strength to keep the buttons on)
-ric rack (I used green)

First you take a green piece of patterned paper and measure it a tiny bit small than the size of your card.  Can you see my little pencil marks?

Then you take the paper and rip. Yes, you heard me, start ripping where you marked the paper.  Do it slowly and try to rip in a semi-straight line.

This is about what it should look like when your done!  There should be lots of white paper from the card showing around the edges.  Glue the paper down to the card.

Now, here's the fun part!  Can you see where I drew a flower wiley niley on the pretty flower paper?  Just free hand it.  You can't really screw up, promise!  Then cut it out.

Take that cute little flower and smash it and smash it till it is very wrinkled and you think you ruined it!  It's gonna look fabulous, trust me.

Then, make 2 more flowers like that, and glue them onto the card.  Next, cut the rick rack to the size you need for a stem.  I just measured it from the flower down to the bottom of the card.  Glue the stems down leaning them so they are not sticking straight up, but leaning away from each other.

Take a tiny piece of ric rack and tie it in a knot, as seen in the picture above (these are the leaves).  Glue the leaves onto the stems in different places.

Take some of your green paper to make the grass.  I just randomly cut into the paper making jagged slits in the paper.  Then cute them off to make short little pieces of grass.  Glue each blade on the card as seen in the pictures below.

I know I took a ton of pictures, but I am a visual person:)

Glue the buttons on last with the glue dots.  This will keep those babies on.  Cute, huh?  This is my favorite card!  Could be for any occasion!

Thanks so much for stopping by....

Lovely Little girl gifts- Headband and Purse

My 9 year old daughter was invited to 2 birthday parties tomorrow!  I dreaded going to the store and trying to figure out what these girls would like, and I hate spending lots of moolah on gifts.  Soooo I thought to myself, "Who wouldn't like a headband and a cute little purse?"  I have been on a headband kick, so last night I whipped these little babies out:
The little girl who is getting these, LOVES the color Yellow.  So ya think she'll like??
The other little girl who is getting these LOVES green, so I thought these would do the trick!
I especially LOVED how this headband turned out, so I had to take a close-up.  So cute:)
Here they both are together (duh!).  I made the purses about 6 months ago when I was obsessed with making pursed and bought a crap load of fabric!  It's a good thing I did!!

I think we will fill the purses up with some candy.

Have a fantabulous weekend!!  We are having record rainfall, so no SUN for us!

How to make a Paper Scraps Card - Tutorial

I love to make cards and to scrapbook, so I have a LOT of paper scraps laying around. I used to wonder what the heck to do with them, but lately I have been making cards with all my scraps. It's really easy and fun!

1. First, you don't even have to buy pre-made blank scored cards. Just use some white (or any color ) cardstock (you can even use a brown grocery sack!) and cut it down to about 8 1/2 x 5 1/2.

2.Fold it into a card. I like to use a ruler (or bone folder) to make the fold nice and flat.

3. Now find some scraps of patterned or solid color paper, all different colors or patterns. I used about 5 strips of paper around 1/2 x 3 1/4 inches long. Vary the lengths so they are not all the same. They can even be different widths!

4. I inked the edges of each strip with a brown chalk ink. You can even use paint! It gives it a dimensional look.

5. Now, stagger each strip on the front of the card. It looks better if they are not perfectly straight and put them about 1/2 inch or so apart. I like to position each strip first before I glue them down. Start in the middle and work out.

6. If you want a sentiment, go ahead and write, print it out, or stamp one on a punched out shape or just a strip of plain white paper! I used an acrylic stamp for mine, but I have also just written or printed sentiments too. Whatever you are most comfortable with. I also inked the edges of my sentiment.

7. I attached my sentiment with a pop dot. It's basically a piece of foam with adhesive on both sides. It gives your card dimension and looks great!

8. When your done, think of someone you can give your card to and tell them it is handmade! They will be so impressed!
