Fall Burlap Wreath

I am excited to have Meredith from Wait 'Til Your Father Gets Home blog here today!  Take it away Meredith:

Hi everyone, I hope you all had an awesome week! I'm Meredith and I blog at Wait 'Til Your Father Gets Home!
I started blogging this past March, so I'd say that makes me fairly new to the wonderful world of blogging! I like to share simple crafts, home decor ideas, recipes, and other easy DIY projects.

I've officially jumped on the burlap train for most of my fall decor this year. I just could not resist after seeing so many wonderful projects floating around the blogosphere. It was Sarah's Fall wreath and Allison's Fall Ruffled Burlap Berry wreath in particular that have inspired my version.
Here's what I rounded up at Michael's to create my...

Ruffled Burlap Wreath

floral pins (the u-shaped kind)
burlap garland
berry garland
felt pumpkins & leaves
styrofoam wreath form (18")
I'm just going to be up front and admit that I had a 12" wreath form in my craft closet. All of these pictures show that size until I realized that it was going to be way too small for my front door. So I ran back out the next day to actually buy one that would work. Luckily I was able to use a coupon and found an 18" flat form at Hobby Lobby.
The first thing you'll want to do is wrap your wreath form with burlap as tightly as you can. I used a floral pin at the beginning and at the end once it was all wrapped.
Now that the wreath form is wrapped you don't have to worry about seeing bright white poking through if you have a gap in your ruffles.
Just start ruffling, bubbling, and pinning around the front side of the wreath.
I was intimidated to start the ruffling step, but once I began it was super easy.
Once you've got the burlap ruffled all the way around the front side, you're ready to begin the fun part--adding the berry garland and the little felt pumpkins and leaves! To add the felt pumpkins, I simply put a dab of hot glue on the backside and attached a floral pin to each of them.
Alright, so I mentioned before that once I finished the first wreath and hung it on the door, I quickly realized that it was sadly too small.
So, I sucked it up and realized I'd have to take apart the small version and grab a bigger wreath form next time I was out and about.
Luckily since I used the floral pins I could just take everything off and reattach it to the larger wreath. It was so easy!
And I can definitely say that I think the larger wreath looks much better.
It screams Fall if you ask me!
Burlap
Pumpkins
Leaves
Berries
{oh my!}
What holiday projects have inspired you this season?
What's your favorite fall decor item of choice this season?
Have an awesome weekend everyone!
Thanks again to Karen for having me over to her place today!

DIY Burlap Rosette Wreath

Hey everyone!  I am Brooke from Babblings and More.
We are SO excited to be a guest on Pocket Full of Pink!  I am one of four sisters who contribute to Babblings and More.  My sisters and I started our blog to keep in touch with one another and show each other what we are up to after we all got married and moved away.
We named our blog Babblings and More because babbling means to utter a meaningless confusion of words and that is exactly what we do!  In fact, my dad still calls me Babbling Brooke...

Today we are going to show you how to make this Burlap Wreath!  It is SUPER easy and is adorable!

Materials Needed:
18 inch Foam Wreath- purchased at Hobby Lobby
Burlap- 1 yard of darker burlap and 1/2 yard of lighter burlap.
Contrasting Material- Just to add a hint of color
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun and Sticks
Pins

Step 1- Cut the Burlap into strips and start to wrap it around the wreath.

Step 2- Pin the Burlap in place.

Step 3- Wrap the entire wreath with the burlap.

Step 4- Make flowers as shown HERE and glue them onto the burlap covered wreath.

Step 5- Hang on your door or wherever you want to put it!

Thank you SO much for having us at Pocket Full of Pink today!  We LOVE meeting new people and making new friends!  So stop by and visit us at Babblings and More!

Valentine Burlap Treat Bags {Tutorial}

I had some leftover Burlap from the Fall Table Runner I made last year {find that tutorial here} so I decide to make use of my new Martha Stewart Stencils and some Valentine fabric I had leftover from this Valentine Wreath last year!

I absolutely LOVE the way they turned out!  I think I may give these to some ladies I visit each month.

Here are the supplies you will need:

-7 x 8 inch pieces of burlap

-1 x 7 inch pieces of fabric for the ruffles

-paint

-stencils

-ribbon

-felt

-Bakers twine

I just ripped my 1 x 7 inch strips.  If you need a cool trick for making ruffles on your machine, click here.  Learning this trick has seriously changed my life:)

After the ruffles are made, sew them onto the 7 x 8 inch piece of burlap.  I sewed on 2.

After you have finished sewing on the ruffles, fold your burlap width wise, and sew the edges together.

Next, turn right side out using a chop stick to push the corners out {carefully}.

I Loved these Martha Stewart Stencils!  They have adhesive on the back.  It was so much easier to use knowing it wasn't going to slide around!

The Stenciling was really easy, and I used fusible webbing to adhere the felt heart on the left treat bag.  I also sewed a little piece of ribbon to the bottom of the left treat bag.

I love the cute touch of the bakers twine for closing the top!

These didn't take hardly any time at all to make.  I want to make a ton, because they are just so fun to make:)

Autumn Burlap Table Runner tutorial

Hello Happy Hour Projects readers!  My name is Karen and I blog over at Pocket Full of Pink, where I post crafts, tutorials, recipes and sometimes just random stuff!  I am so excited to be here.

Today I am going to show you my Ruffled Burlap Table Runner:

I am absolutely LOVING my Table Runner!  I love how it turned out.  Wanna know how I made it?
Here is what you will need:

Burlap (I used a piece about 17 inches wide, 45 inches long)
2 different fabrics about 1/4- 1/2 yard of each
sewing machine
thread
scissors, tape measure
I don't quilt, but I use the long plastic thingy (what is the name of it!!) in the picture and a cutting mat.

That's all you need!  This is so inexpensive to make!!

First I cut the burlap into the 17 x 45 inch piece.  Do ya know how to cut Burlap?  You make a little snip where you want to cut it, then pull out a burlap thread.  This will make a straight line through your burlap!  Now you can use scissors or a quilting cutter (I can't think of the right name for it!) to cut your burlap.  I hope that made sense.  It really makes it easy to cut the Burlap.

After you have cut your burlap in the desired length and width, iron it.  Mine had lots of creases in it.  Don't leave the hot iron on the burlap for long:)

Next, you cut your 2 different fabrics into strips about 2 inches by 34 inches long (twice the amount of the width of your runner).  I cut 4 strips of one pattern and 3 of the other pattern.

Now here's the fun part.  I hated making ruffles until I learned how to make them!  My machine is very basic and I know every machine is different, so this probably varies depending on your machine.  You turn the thread tension up to the highest number.  I know the picture is hard to see, but my thread tension is at about 8 or 9.

Next, you turn the stitch width to the highest.  Mine is 5.

Here is what the ruffles looked like when I got done.  All you have to do is guide the fabric piece through the machine, and it makes the ruffles for you!  This works perfectly!  Remember, don't back stitch. I am a new woman now that I have discovered this!!

Next, I placed each ruffle about 6 inches apart.  Now, pin each ruffle onto the burlap in a straight line.

Sew each ruffle down, right down the center, but make sure you are not sewing on top of the stitch you sewed to make the ruffle.  Get as close as you can to it.  Then after each ruffle is sewn on, take your seam ripper and take out the ruffle seam (the one on the right that my seam ripper is pointing to).  The seam should come out really easy.

After picking out the ruffle seam, I frayed each ruffle a little along the edges of the fabric.  I also cut any threads that were hanging.

Admire your fabulous work and show it off on your table!!

We had some friends over for dinner last night and they absolutely LOVED this!
It was so nice to say I MADE IT!!

Fall Burlap Wreath

Yesterday I spent my afternoon making this baby.
I have to be completely honest....I don't know if I LOVE it.

I saw Linda's pretty wreath over at Craftaholics and I knew I had to make one.
I think her's turned out better, but I am not going to put mine down:)  I am happy with it, I just think my flowers turned out HUGE!

When I was making it, I couldn't decide whether to do the Halloween or Fall look, so it kinda turned out BOTH.

I need your honest opinion.  Do you like it?  Be kind and gentle.  I am having PMS right now....
My kids loved it!  I should be happy about that, right?

I need peer approval please....

Cute Little Lamps Redone

Last Summer I bought these cute little lamps at a garage sale for about $1.50 each:

I really liked the textures on the lamp, but wasn't very crazy about the Brass, so almost a year later, I decided to do some spray painting!

So, I totally blew it with the pictures.  I only took a few of the before pictures!  Here is where I measured how much burlap to put on the shade.  I rolled the shade along the burlap and drew a line with a pen.  It was actually really easy!  I made sure to leave some extra on the top and bottom so I had room to glue.

I used spray adhesive to adhere the burlap on the shade.  Then, I used my glue gun to glue the ends over as seen in this picture.

The, I decided to make a "W" stencil with my Cricut using vinyl.  I used a stencil brush to apply the black paint.

Here is one of the finished lamps.  Wahoo!!  I really love the way it turned out!  I spray painted the lamp heirloom white (my favorite color!).

How do you like the way they look?  I was really surprised at how quickly I got them done.  It took me about 2 hours total, including drying time for the lamps.
