Happy Hearts Day and Subway Art!

How is your day going so far?  I am excited to go out with my hubby tonight to celebrate Valentine's Day!

It's hard to believe we have been married for 20 years in August!
Do you want to know what we did on our first date?  We babysat!

Weird, huh?  I totally remember the day he called and asked me out.  I was working in a salon doing hair.  He called and asked me to go out on Valentine's Day.  I had already told a good friend I would babysit for her.

I asked him if he wanted to come over and babysit with me.  He said yes!  We actually had a great time!  Afterwards we went dancing.  GREAT TIME!!

What are you all doing tonight?  Anything exciting??

I have to share my last V-day project with you!!  It is reversible!  I ordered the vinyl and wood from Thoughts in Vinyl.  I LOVE this place!

You should stop by and check them out.  They have so many cute and reasonably priced kits.

Here's what I finished last night:

Cute, right?  I used My Minds Eye paper and covered it with Mod Podge before I adhered the vinyl.  The "Be Mine" area I painted with Martha Stewart Poodle Skirt Pink.

Here's what I love the most about this:

 It's Reversible!  I LOVE to save room in my craft closet!

Have a "LOVE"ly day!

Repurposed Altoid Tin into Sweet Love Notes!

{This is older post that I thought I would share with my readers again.  Such a fun idea!  I hope you enjoy it!)

 This would be such a cute gift for your hubby, friend, or child.
An adorable tin with cute little words in different fonts!

Here is what I did:
First I took the container and traced some cute Valentine paper around the shape of the container.  Next, I cut out the shape and Mod Podged it on the container.  I smoothed out the paper with a brayer.  You can add anything you'd like on the container:  Buttons, stickers, etc..Be creative!

I printed out hundreds of different words onto just regular old printer paper and used different fonts for each word (I am kinda a fontaholic!).  I cut out each word (which is a pain in the fanny!).  Then I laminated each one of those buggers.  Yes, it took forever, but it was fun thinking of different sentences I could make with all the words!  If you don't have a laminator, you can use contact paper.

It takes a while to cut out each word.  Buy a roll of magnet with sticky stuff on one side.  One roll should be plenty.  Stick the magnet on the back of each word, and Walaah!  You have a sweet, inexpensive gift to give someone for Valentines day or any day!

How fun is it to make funny sentences on your fridge?  I love it!  My kids love it!

I Love you Banner {Tutorial}

 Last week I decided I needed a new banner to hang in my kitchen area.  Here is what I came up with!

I forgot to take a picture of the supplies, so here is a list:

-Red Cardstock
-white heart doilies {I used 8}
-fabric remnants {I used 17 strips}
-chalk ink pad
-Bakers Twine
-hole punch
-some kind of die cute machine {or you could cut by hand}
-glue
I used my Cricut machine to cut out the hearts and letters.
You could easily cut these out by hand.  I used Doodletype cartridge for the letters and the hearts.

I just had the Cricut cut out the red hearts a little bigger than the doilies.  I also cut out 3 different sizes of the small hearts to separate the words I. Love. You.

I was going to separate each letter with the small hearts dangling from Bakers Twine, but then I decided to hang them between each word instead.  I glued on the doilies and letters with good ol' Elmers glue.

I inked the edges of the white hearts with my Charcoal black chalk ink.  I use this chalk ink ALL the time!

Here's a close up of the hearts with the letters before I glued them down.   I used Elmers glue to glue them down.

I am so bad at taking pictures of banners.  It's so awkward and I can never really get the whole banner in the picture.  Why is that??

For the fabric strips I just ripped long strips, then cut them into shorter strips.  I tied 3 in between each letter.

 I strung everything on some red and white Bakers Twine.  LOVE that stuff!   Here is a great place to buy it.

And there it is!  It looks cute in my kitchen:)  Simple, cheap and easy to make.

See you tomorrow at Friday Frolic!

This is one of my favorite projects from a year ago.  It only took about 15 minutes to put together!

I {heart} you frame  made with Scrapbook paper, chipboard letters, and Mod Podge.  Easy and REALLY cheap!  Find out how I made it here.

Today's Guest: Live. Teach. Create!

First let me say a big thank you for joining me today on Pocket Full of Pink and a HUGE THANK YOU to Karen for having me here! My name is Jennifer Smith-Sloane and I have been an avid crafter my entire life and avid scrapbooker/paper crafter since 1997. I am a married, 30-something who loves her fur-babies. When I am not at home crafting, I work as a middle school Pre-Algebra teacher and an adjunct professor in Adult Education.

Today I want to share with you a cute project that I put together as a gift for a friend for Valentine's. While searching around some many great blogs and forums, I found a template for a K Cup Carrier that I fell in love with! It looked so easy to create and was just up my alley as I have dearly LOVED my Keurig for two years. We just got one at the school I teach at and I though this would be perfect for me to give a friend at work.

Using the template from The Cat's Pajama's, I carefully traced the template onto a piece of red cardstock. I could have printed it onto the cardstock and make it easier but meh, I was kicking it old school. Once I had traced the entire template and cut it out, I knew I needed to make the circles for the cups and I didn't have the right size punch. Next best thing was to get a K Cup and just trace the top! Tip: Make sure if you do it this way, you space them closest to the edge as possible.

I used several scraps as I was decorating this project and then used the Melonheadz Robe and Slippers image to decorate the outside. I colored her in with various Copics to match the papers in the project. Before I adhered her with foam tape, I added the black velvet lace trim around the carrier which I then accented with some bling!

The sentiment is one that I have had for awhile and I honestly don't know where it is from anymore but it fit along perfect with this project.

If you like {or even love} my project, I would love to have you come on over to my blog and sit a spell. I am an avid crafter and strive to post new projects every day although we know life happens to the best of us. You can also find me on Twitter or Facebook as well.

Once again, thank you Karen for having me as a guest post on your blog today! Hope to hear from some of you and would love to see your projects if you create them as well. Have a happy Tuesday!

How cute is that!? What a fabulous idea for a co-worker or friend:)  Thanks so much Jennifer for hanging out here today.

Valentine Burlap Treat Bags {Tutorial}

I had some leftover Burlap from the Fall Table Runner I made last year {find that tutorial here} so I decide to make use of my new Martha Stewart Stencils and some Valentine fabric I had leftover from this Valentine Wreath last year!

I absolutely LOVE the way they turned out!  I think I may give these to some ladies I visit each month.

Here are the supplies you will need:

-7 x 8 inch pieces of burlap

-1 x 7 inch pieces of fabric for the ruffles

-paint

-stencils

-ribbon

-felt

-Bakers twine

I just ripped my 1 x 7 inch strips.  If you need a cool trick for making ruffles on your machine, click here.  Learning this trick has seriously changed my life:)

After the ruffles are made, sew them onto the 7 x 8 inch piece of burlap.  I sewed on 2.

After you have finished sewing on the ruffles, fold your burlap width wise, and sew the edges together.

Next, turn right side out using a chop stick to push the corners out {carefully}.

I Loved these Martha Stewart Stencils!  They have adhesive on the back.  It was so much easier to use knowing it wasn't going to slide around!

The Stenciling was really easy, and I used fusible webbing to adhere the felt heart on the left treat bag.  I also sewed a little piece of ribbon to the bottom of the left treat bag.

I love the cute touch of the bakers twine for closing the top!

These didn't take hardly any time at all to make.  I want to make a ton, because they are just so fun to make:)

Hugs and Kisses Valentine stacking Blocks {reversible!}

I have to be honest with you guys today.  This craft is one that I ordered the supplies online and I didn't even cut the wood!  Lazy, huh? {I even have a scroll saw!}  Have you heard of Thoughts in Vinyl?  I discovered it before Christmas and it is wonderful!

Their prices are VERY reasonable and I love the kits Janae puts together!  I just went to her site, found the kits that I wanted. You can order just the vinyl, or the vinyl with the wood.  The kits come with a picture of the finished project, so you get an idea about what it's supposed to look like.

I like that I was able to put my own twist on it!  I used paint and scrapbook paper.

And the really COOL thing is that if you turn over the blocks you get this:
So you get two seasonal decorations out of 1 set of blocks.....YAY!!  I love it:)

Here's a close up of the Hugs and Kisses side.

 I am lovin' my reversible seasonal blocks!

Do you like??

Go visit Thoughts in Vinyl today!

**** I was not paid to write this post or to endorse Thoughts in Vinyl.  I just love their products!

Valentine's Canvas Art {Tutorial}

I have a special request from you my lovely readers.

If you haven't already Pretty PLEASE "LIKE" me on Facebook!  -------------------->
The button is to your right on the top.
I recently started a new fan page for Pocket Full of Pink and well to be honest, I want more. I am not satisfied with 66 likes. Will ya humor me and click on that "like" button?  It will make my flippin' day!  Thank you:)

Now, onto a cute, and easy Valentine Craft!

 This was so EASY my friends.  The longest part was gluing on the bazillion buttons!

Supplies you will need:

- blank canvas (mine was an 8 x 8)

-{1} 12 x 12 piece of Scrapbook paper

-Mod Podge

-Some kind of hard flat tool to get the air bubbles out of the paper (I use my Pampered Chef scraper}

-vinyl {or you could cut out letters using a stencil}

-Cricut or Sillouette

-Buttons

Directions:
1.)  First I brushed Mod Podge over the back side of the scrapbook paper.
2.) While it was drying, I used my scraper to smooth out the paper and get the air bubbles out.  Note: From my tutorial pictures it looks like the air bubbles are still there, but I swear on a stack of brownies that EVERY air bubble came out!  Don't ask me how, they just did!

3 and 4.) I added the vinyl lettering after the Mod Podge was completely dry.  I had some leftover vinyl from last year that I didn't use.

Lastly, I added all those pretty buttons!  Yes, it took a while, but I think it looks pretty darn good:)

 See....No air bubbles. It was the weirdest thing.  They just disappeared!

Be sure and stop by tomorrow for the Friday Frolic top 5 viewed links from last weeks party!

Pink Valentine Heart Wreath

 This is a blast from the past!  I made this last year and I know most of you probably didn't see it, so I thought I would bring it back to show you:)

I made this Heart Wreath with some old cardboard I found in my messy garage.  I cut it into a heart shape, then wrapped it with lots of cute pink fabric.

After I wrapped it, I knew it needed a splash of an accent color, so I made a couple of black and white rosette's, and a felt flower.
 Here's an up close of the flowers I made!

I hope you like it!  I love it hanging from the shelf my hubs made me years ago:)
Come back tomorrow for more easy Valentine craft ideas!!

Are these not the most adorable apothocary jars you have EVER seen?  I want some REALLY bad:)
I am determined to make one of these signs.  I love how she used Vinyl as a stencil and gave it the weathered look!

I also just love the name of her blog:  Lolly Jane Boutique!  Doesn't that name make you want to go there?? Go....now:)

White Chocolate Marshmellow Pops

  I had some white chocolate leftover from like last Christmas or maybe even the Christmas before (it still tastes fine!).  I wanted to use it up.  I knew I had some big marshmellows, some leftover sucker sticks from making candy previously, and I had sprinkles!  Just what I need to make these yummy Valentine marshmellow treats.  Here are my not so organized directions:

First we melted that yummy White chocolate in the microwave.  Make sure you nuke it in 30 second intervals, then stir, or it will burn.  Believe ME, nothing is worse than burnt Chocolate...yuk!

You need the large Marshmellows, lollipop sticks (or toothpicks), and Valentine sprinkles!
The sprinkles go EVERYWHERE!  I kept sweeping them up with my hand and pouring them on a marshmellow dipped in the chocolate (can't stand to waste it!).  After you've dipped one, let it dry on a piece of wax paper.  doesn't even stick, yay!
Aren't they perdy?
There she is enjoying her yummy treat!
I luurve all the pretty colors:)
That bugger was gone in about 10 seconds!

These were soooo easy.  It's quick and easy, and you have immediate satisfaction:)  They are really yummy.  Word of advice:  If you eat more than about 4 at a time, your tummy won't feel so good:)
