Repurposed Bathroom Mirror

I have had this mirror in my bathroom for about 10+ years!  

 

It's nice, but I have been getting REALLY sick of it lately.  It just sits there and gets dirty and it's so plain!

Well, the other day, I went in to the bathroom, ripped the mirror off the wall and decided it was time for a change.

First, I took the 2 pieces of wood out of the center that made it look like a window.

Then, I took out all of the staples that were left on the mirror with my needle nosed pliers.

Next, I took it outside and sanded it a bit.

Lastly, I added this cute Bathroom Subway Art that I ordered through Thoughts in Vinyl!

I love how something so easy and cheap can totally change the look of something.  I have wanted Bathroom Subway Art forever and now everyone can see it when they are sitting on the potty:)

Repurposed Paper covered Eggs

 Wow!  Only 3 more days until Easter.  I never thought it would come and now here it is!  I have 1 more Easter craft for you.  I was looking at some of my past Easter decorations and came across these:

I probably painted these about 15 years ago.  They had cute little canvas ears.  Well, I got tired of them and ripped off the canvas ears, because I knew I could do something with them!

How about some paper covered eggs??  So easy and very inexpensive!  You could even do this to plastic eggs.

Here is what you need:

-A few pieces of coordinating scrapbook paper.

-Mod Podge

-ric rack (I used yellow, green and white to go with the paper I was using)

-Wood or plastic eggs

-glue gun

First I sanded the eggs a little to get some of the paint off.  I didn't really need too though.  The paper is just going to cover them anyway!

Next, I cut the paper into leaf shapes.  I made them tall enough to cover the whole egg.  I used about 6 per egg.  Then I crumpled up the paper.  Just put it in your hand and smoosh it!  It's fun:)

Here you can get a good idea of what shape I cut the paper into.  Then, I coated the whole paper piece with Mod Podge....I mean the back and front of the paper.  Then I smoothed it onto the egg, making sure to not leave any of the wood exposed.  Then I put an extra coat of Mod Podge on the top of the paper.

I let the eggs dry for about 1 hour.  I just set them on some wax paper to dry.

Here is where I put the ric rack on.  I just glued the ric rack on in random places, winding it around the egg.  

This egg I glued the ric rack on length wise.  I just glued the strips on the top, then put a strip of glue down the egg and attached the ric rack.  Super easy!!

I forgot to take pictures of the 3rd egg....Sorry:)  I think I like the 3rd one the best.  I too the mini white ric rack and rolled it into a flower, then glued them to the egg in random places.  Super cute!!

Here they are all done!  Don't you love the one with the little white flowers??  The egg holder thingy I have also had for years.  It was a mauve color with dark green leaves.  I had to spray it!  I like it much better now....it's amazing what  little spray paint can do!

I love re-purposing things!  So much fun:)  

I will be away for a few days.  I am going on a little getaway with the hubs!  Can't wait for long walks on the beach and a wonderful breakfast:)

Repurposed bowl and candle holder

  I told you a while back about my score at Salvation Army, right?

See that silver bowl and that brownish looking candle holder on the right corner?

Here is what I have done with them:

I am lovin' this color Blue!!  Doesn't it just scream SPRING?  The Rattan balls are from the Dollar Tree.  I hand painted (actually I used a sponge brush) them, using water based acrylic paint.  Here's how I did it:

Not much color to them, huh?  Just plain old wicker white. 

Here are the paint colors I used:

Sweetheart pink

Lemon Yellow

Lilac

Spa Blue

Tangerine

Mint Julep Green

The paint was all Americana brand, except the Sweetheart Pink was Folk Art.

AFTER!

I love it!  I put it in my Garden window, so I can look at it all day!

Love Rosette Frame and Bumper Sticker Winners!!

Thanks so much to those of you who responded to the Bumper sticker giveaway.  I know it's not much, but they will sure look great on your Bumpers!  I will e-mail the first 10 people who responded and told me why they LOVE blogging to get your info. 

Now....onto my latest craft project!

I had a 5 x 7 frame laying around and I wanted to use it. I went to Target and bought card from the dollar section. 

The card fit perfectly!  I had bought a cute mini wreath at Joann's a few weeks ago ($2.99), but didn't know what I was going to use it for.  Well, I figured it out!  I hung it from a cute Robin's egg colored polka dot ribbon (that came on some wash cloths I bought recently).

 Lastly I had to add some adorable rosette's on the bottom right hand corner of the frame.  I made two small ones from the left over ribbon which I hung the mini wreath with, and used some left over fabric I had from a project a few months ago.  Sweet:)  Total cost: $4.  The price was right and I loved how it turned out!  

Super cute, huh?  I just love the Robin's egg ribbon.  Sooooo pretty and repurposed!  I love to reuse stuff:)  It's kinda Valentiney, but I think I could leave it up all year, don't ya think?
